Sophia Klin
Violin
Sophia Klin performs throughout the region with ensembles including the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Binghamton Philharmonic, and Slee Sinfonietta.
Klin is an active performer of contemporary music and has collaborated with living composers on solo, chamber, and orchestral works. She has been part of numerous world premieres as a performer in the University at Buffalo’s June in Buffalo festival, as an active member of the Eastman School of Music’s Musica Nova ensemble, and as a string fellow at the Next Festival of Emerging Artists. In 2023 and 2024 Klin was a cast member in String Quartet Theatre, a show with Syracuse-based Breadcrumbs Productions presenting contemporary and traditional chamber works within immersive theatre.
Klin has appeared as a soloist with Rochester’s Cordancia Chamber Orchestra and Irondequoit Community Orchestra and with several orchestras in her hometown of Binghamton.
In 2023 she joined the faculty of ROCmusic, Rochester’s tuition-free collaborative youth music program, where she now serves as a lead teacher.
Klin holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music, where she was a student of Juliana Athayde. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Eastman, studying under David Bowlin.
Outside of performing and teaching, Klin enjoys trivia, trying new foods, and learning other instruments, particularly the tuba.
