Steven Harmon

Principal Horn

Fred and Margot Schoeps Chair

Steven Harmon is currently a freelance horn player based in the Hudson Valley. Having made his professional debut with the San Francisco Symphony at age 21, he currently holds the position of principal horn with the Symphony New Hampshire and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. In addition, Steven is regularly invited to perform throughout the east coast with orchestras including The New World Symphony, The Orchestra Now, Albany Symphony Orchestra, New Haven Symphony and Allentown Symphony.

Originally from Santa Monica, California, Steven began his horn career at age 12 and holds degrees from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Yale School of Music and Bard College. Steven owes everything to his horn teachers, William Purvis, Kevin Rivard, Bruce Roberts, Teag Reaves, Dr. Annie Bosler, and to the support of his parents and grandparents. When he is not playing his horn, Steven’s favorite things to do are spend time with his friends, explore the outdoors, and find good coffee to drink.
